Status quo and influencing factors of innovation ability of operating room nurses in 9 tertiary grade A hospitals in Sichuan province

Abstract Objective：To investigate the status quo of innovation ability of operating room nurses in tertiary Grade A hospitals in Sichuan province，analyze its influencing factors，and provide a reference for the formulation of innovation ability improvement plan.Methods：From September to October 2023，a cross-sectional survey was conducted on 578 operating room nurses in 9 tertiary Grade A hospitals in Sichuan province using a general information questionnaire，Innovation Ability Evaluation Scale For Clinical Nursing Staff，Workplace Social Capital Scale（WSCS），The Work-Related Flow Inventory（WOLF），and Nurse′s Career Identity Scale （NCIS），and univariate and multivariate analysis was performed.Results：The total score of innovation ability of operating room nurses was （142.84±17.16） points.The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that whether or not they were specialist nurses in operating rooms，whether or not they had studied medical information retrieval courses，the number of papers published，workplace social capital，work-related flow，and career identity were influencing factors of the innovation ability of operating room nurses （P<0.05）.Conclusions：The innovation ability of operating room nurses in 9 tertiary Grade A hospitals in Sichuan province is at an above-average level and needs to be improved.Managers should strengthen the training of specialist nurses in operating rooms，focus on training in medical information retrieval courses and paper writing，improve the level of social capital and work-related flow in the workplace，and strengthen career identity，so as to further improve the innovation ability of operating room nurses.
