Abstract:As one of the core concepts in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),the theory of meridian tropism is crucialfor explainingthe mechanismsofTCMeficacy.However,itlacksaclearscientificexplanation.Chineseherbal medicine-derived extracelularvesicle-like particles (CHM-EVLP),asa prominent categoryof plant-derived nanovesicles,contain various active components(such asRNAs,proteins,and lipids).They can not only synergisticallregulate multiple pathways toexertholistictherapeutic efects butalso enable targeteddelivery,naturally combiningthe functions of both“carrier”and“drug".Thisaligns highly withthecore connotationof "reaching the targetlocationandachieving the efect"inthe TCM meridian tropism theory.Therefore,CHM-EVLP hold promise for providing averifiable microscopic material basis for this theory.Thisarticle reviews the definition,composition, extraction and characterization methods,and core features of CHM-EVLP.It preliminarilyanalyzes the feasibilityof using the CHM-EVLP perspectiveto elucidate the material basis ofthe TCM meridian tropism theory from two aspects :thetargeted propertyofCHM-EVLPmatching the directionalatributeof "meridian tropism",andthemulti-component nature of CHM-EVLP matching the pharmacodynamic atribute of "meridian tropism".This provides theoretical support and a practical pathway for the modernization of TCM.
