Simulation of two-dimensional laser backscattering imaging for two cylinders with coplanar bases

Abstract: Laser two-dimensional imaging serves as a viable approach for target identification. This study introduces a window function into the target intensitycalculation formula,derivingasimulation formula for twodimensional laserbackscattering imaging for twocylinderswith coplanar bases,therebyachieving an effective simulation of this imaging process.Aray-tracing-based occlusion algorithm is designed to address the mutual occlusion between the two cylinders during imaging.The impact of diferent surface materials—categorized into Lambertianand non-Lambertian—is analyzed.Simulationsare conducted for scenarios where both cylinders exhibit he same surface type as well as when they difer. The influence of observation direction on the imaging outcome is also examined. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed occlusion algorithm effectively resolves inter-cylinder occlusion issues and yields correct simulation results.
