Abstract: Polylacticacid (PLA)isabiodegradable bio-based materialthat hasshown greatpotential inthefieldof food packagingduetoitsexcellentbiodegradabilityandenvironmentalfriendliness.However,PLAhaslimitations inersof heatresistance,toughnessandbarierproperties,restrictingitsapplication.Therefore,phyicalndchemicalmodifications have been employed to enhance the performance of PLA to make it suitable for meat packaging.This paper provides a detailed discusson on te physical and chemical modification methods of PLA,as wellas itsapplication in meat packaging byvirtue of gas barrier properties,antibacterial properties and mechanical performance.
