Once, a crocodile liked bananas. However, they only grew on trees and the crocodile couldnot reach them.

A monkey watched the crocodile for sometime and then said,“Allow me to get some ba-nanas for you.”

The crocodile ate most of the bananas, andtook some home to his wife.

“If  that  monkey  lives  on  bananas,”thecrocodile’s wife said,“his liver must be verytasty. Try to ask him to visit us, and then wecan have a good meal of monkey liver.”

The next day, the crocodile went back tothe banana tree.

“My wife is sick and she wants you to vis-it her,”the crocodile told the monkey.

“All right,”the monkey said.

The  crocodile  then  carried  the  monkeyacross the river to their home.

“Tell me what your problem is,”themon-key said to her,“and I’ll suggest some medi-cine for you.”

“The only medicine I need,”shesaid,“isyour liver.”

Thinking quickly, the monkey said,“I leftmy liver in a banana tree. Would you like me toget it?”

The crocodile’s wife agreed that the mon-key should go and get it, so her husband carriedhim back to the banana tree. Then the monkeyclimbed to the tree and disappeared.
