In vivo and in vitro study of Er，Cr：YSGG laser treatment of cervical dentin hypersensitivity

【Abstract】ObjectiveToinvestigate theimmediateandlong-termdentinal tubuleoclusion effcacyofEr，Cr：YSGGlaser intreatingcervicaldentinhypersensitivity（DH），andcompareitsclinicaleficacywiththetraditionalGlumadesensitizer. Methods ① Invitro study：25 isolated models of cervical DHof third molars were collctedandrandomlydivided into blank controlgroup，desensitizationimmediate group，andsimulated wear groupat1month，2 months，and3 months.AfterEr，Cr： YSGG laserdesensitization，the microstructureof thedentin surface wasobserved by scanning electron microscopy（SEM）. ② Clinical study：21casesofcervicalDH（34 toth sites）wererandomized into groupA（Er，Cr：YSGG laser，1Opatients/ 20teth）and group B（Gluma desensitizer，11 patients/14 teeth）.The Visual Analogue Scale（VAS）was usedto assess tooth sensitivity immediately after treatment andat1 month，2 months，and3 months after treatment.Results ① In vitro experiment：theimmediatedesensitizationgroupshowedameltedlayeronthedentinsurface，with mostubuleorificesoccluded andreduced diameter.Withthe extensionof weartime（1-3 months），the moltenlayer graduall woreawayandthe number of exposed dentin tubules increased. ② Clinical study：the VAS scores of both groups decreased immediately after treatment （ P <0.05），andthen graduallincreasedover time；however，the VASscoresof thegroupAatalltimepointsafter treatment were significantly lower than those of the group B 二 P<0. 05 ）.ConclusionEr，Cr：YSGG laser can effectively close the dentinal tubulesoftheneckofthetoth，anditsdesensitizationeffectgraduallyweakenswithtime，butbothshort-termand long-term eficacyare beterthan Gluma desensitizer，which isanefective method forthe treatmentofcervical DH.
