Muscle ultrasound for early prediction for acquired weakness in intensive care unit:a Meta-analysis

Abstract Objective:To assess the prediction value of muscle ultrasound for acquired weakness in intensive care unit(ICU-AW) by Meta-analysis,and to provide a basis for clinical diagnosis.Methods:PubMed,EMbase,the Cochrane Library,Web of Science,CNKI,CMB,VIP,and WanFang Database were searched,and the retrieval time was from the inception to March 1,2024.The literature was screened according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,and the related diagnostic test category of muscle ultrasound for ICU-AW was included in the study.The quality assessment of diagnostic accuracy studise(QUADAS-2) was used to evaluate the quality of the included literature.Results:A total of 11 articles were included,including 587 critically ill patients.Meta-analysis results showed that the combined sensitivity,combined specificity,combined positive likelihood ratio,combined negative likelihood ratio,and combined diagnostic ratio of muscle ultrasound in the diagnosis of ICU-AW was 0.71(95%CI 0.60-0.80),0.78(95%CI 0.74-0.81),3.15(95%CI 2.72-3.66),0.38(95%CI 0.27-0.52) and 8.33(95%CI 5.41-12.83),respectively.The area under the curve value for the combined subject work characteristics was 0.80(95%CI 0.76-0.83).Conclusion:Current evidence shows that muscle ultrasound has good prediction value for early ICU-AW and may provide a reference for clinical diagnosis of ICU-AW.
