Summary of best evidence for the application of high-flow nasal cannula in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract  Objective：To search and screen the relevant evidence of the application of high-flow humidified oxygen therapy in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at home and abroad，and to summarize the best evidence.Methods：Guidelines，systematic evaluations，expert consensus，evidence summary，and clinical decision-making were retrieved from JBI Evidence Based Healthcare Center in Australia，UpToDate，the Cochrane Library，CINAHL，PubMed，EMBase，GIN，NICE，RNAO，the websites of Yimaitong，CNKI，WanFang Database，VIP，CBM，and relevant associations.The search deadline was from the establishment of each database until September 2023.Two researchers conducted quality evaluations，evidence extraction，and summarization of the evidence summary.Results：A total of 11 articles were included，including 2 clinical decision-making articles，3 guidelines，1 summary of evidence，and 5 expert consensus articles.Summarize 27 pieces of evidence，including 9 aspects：application site，evaluation，flow rate setting，concentration setting，temperature setting，dynamic monitoring of effects，evacuation，precautions，and team education.Conclusion：The best summarized evidence is scientific and comprehensive，providing evidence-based support for clinical healthcare professionals to implement high-flow humidified oxygen therapy in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
