Research on demoralization syndrome in patients with malignant tumors：a scoping review

Abstract Objective：To conduct a scoping review of the status quo，measurement tools，and influencing factors of demoralization syndrome in patients with malignant tumors.Methods：Arksey and O′Malley′s scoping review methodology as the framework were used studies on demoralization syndrome in patients with malignant tumors were retrieved from PubMed，EMbase，CINAHL，the Cochrane Library，PsycINFO，Scopus，Web of Science，CBM，CNKI，VIP，and WanFang Database，from the establishment of the database to May 4，2022. Literature screening was conducted based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. After comprehensively collecting the literature on demoralization syndrome in patients with malignant tumors，the authors，publication years，countries，research objects，measurement tools，sample sizes，and influencing factors were extracted and organized.Results： A total of 58 articles were included. The included studies showed that the incidence of demoralization syndrome in patients with malignant tumors differs in different studies;the commonly used measurement tools were the Demoralization Scale （DS） and the Demoralization Scale Ⅱ （DS-Ⅱ）;the classification criteria for the severity of demoralization syndrome vary greatly;the main influencing factors include demographic factors，disease-related factors，other psychological reactions，psychological coherence，coping styles，social support，and personality traits.Conclusions： Due to differences in the measurement tools，number of items，and classification standards for demoralization syndrome，the incidence and degree of demoralization syndrome in patients with malignant tumors differ. Medical staff should pay attention to the assessment result of demoralization syndrome in patients with malignant tumors，clarify the classification standards of measurement tools，use measurement tools scientifically，effectively identify demoralization syndrome，and develop targeted intervention measures based on its influencing factors.
