Abstract Objective:To conduct a meta-integration of qualitative studies on adolescents′ experiences of self-injury,in order to provide the reference for formulating intervention strategies for adolescent self-injury prevention programs. Methods:Qualitative studies on adolescent self-injury experiences were retrieved systematically from PubMed,EMbase,Web of Science, the Cochrane Library,CNKI,WanFang Database,VIP,and SinoMed,from the establishment of the database to April 12,2023. The Australian JBI Center for Evidence-Based Healthcare Quality Assessment Standards for Qualitative Research (2016) was used to evaluate the quality of the literature, and the pooled meta-integration method was used to integrate the results. Results: A total of 14 articles were included, and 48 themes were extracted. One research result was irrelevant to the theme. Finally,47 themes were included, forming 11 new categories and 4 integrated results (differential emotional response forms,self-injury cognition and behavioral decision-making,physical and mental discomfort, limited social interaction, and desire for social support). Conclusions: The incidence of self-injury among adolescents is high, which is related to a variety of factors. Medical staff and family members should pay attention to adolescents′ physical and mental health, strengthen observation and evaluation, provide multi-faceted support, improve their self-emotional management ability, and effectively prevent self-injurious behavior.
