Study on interaction between track and soil of deep-sea ore collecting vehicle

Abstract: In order to ensure the stable driving of deep-sea crawler ore collectors on deep-sea soft bottom sediments,improve the eficiency of seabed mineral mining,and address the shortage of important metals such as manganese,copper, nickel,and cobalt,this paper adopts theoretical analysis,indoor experiments,and numerical simulations,and uses Recurdyn and EDEM to couple the dynamic driving of ore collectors on soft bottom soil, with the influence of factors explored such as grouser structure on the traction force,driving performance,and soil damage behind the teeth of the ore collctor.The results show that increasing the grouser height-to-distance ratio or reducing the grouser pitch-to-height ratio can improve the net traction of the ore collctor track on soft bottom sediments.By increasing the grouser height to adjust the height-to-distance ratio or reasonably designing the track shoe spacing to control the pitch-to-height ratio,the drivabilityof the ore colector track on soft bottom sediments can be improved.A reasonable control of the ground pressure is beneficial to the passability and drivability of the ore collector track on soft botom soil.And the soil damage behind the grouser at the entry and exit ends under the factors of the grouser height-to-distance ratio and the pitch-to-height ratio is approximately wedge-shaped sliding damage,and the soil damage behind the middle section grouser is approximately rectangular translation damage.This study can provide a certain basis for the DEM discrete element method in the research of track-soil interaction.
