Abstract: Aiming at the localization bottleneck caused by unknown material parameters of the imported torque shaft in a shearer,the key mechanical properties and loading-induced fracture mechanisms of the SL-750 shearer’ s imported torque shaft material and domestic 42CrMo steel under static and dynamic conditions were studied by indentation testing combined with finite element numerical simulation under normal working conditions,42CrMo material exhibits higher stress and a greater deformation tendency compared to SL-750 material; under 130% overload conditions, SL-75O material undergoes plastic deformation,whereas 42CrMo material only deforms plastically at 160% overload; at 275% overload,both the stress and shear stress of SL-75O material exceed their ultimate values,resulting in material fracture and torque shaft shearing; Moreover, during overload conditions,the strain and shear strain of 42CrMo material remain consistently lower than those of SL-75O material.The results indicate that under normal working conditions,the stress-strain distribution patterns of the two materials in the groove area are consistent,demonstrating similar mechanical properties in the elastoplastic stage and identical elastoplastic responses in critical regions. Under overload conditions, significant performance differences are observed: the yield load and fracture load of SL-75O material under equivalent loading are both lower than the ultimate values of 42CrMo material.The SL-75O material exhibits“high ductility-low strength” characteristics,with failure processes accompanied by pronounced plastic deformation, through the research on the mechanical properties and load-bearing mechanism of the shearer torque shaft,this study provides a new method for solving the material problem of imported key components, which has important engineering value for improving the domestic independent support capacity of mining equipment.
