Damage area of the surrounding rock and the calculation of geological bias load in deeply buried inclined layered tunnels

Abstract: To analyze the conditions of geological overburden pressure and calculate the overburden load in deeply buried inclined layered rock tunnels,the plastic zone range of deep tunnels was calculated based on the Hoek-Brown criterion,and the factors influencing the plastic zone range of deep tunnels were identified.A“drawer” mechanical model for inclined layered rock was established,and the criteria for determining geological overburden pressure and calculating the overburden load were proposed,quantifying the impact of the overburden load on the tunnel structure.The results show that: The thickness of the tunnel surounding rock plastic zone calculated by the method is between 4.5 mand 5.2m ,with an error of no more than 7.5% compared with the field measured values.The calculated results are highly consistent with the field test results,and the thickness of the surrounding rock plastic zone after construction disturbance is quantified.The variation of the damage zone range with different excavation radi,disturbance factors,and rock strength is revealed.The geological overburden pressure coeffcient obtained from the“drawer” mechanical model decreases with increasing tunnel depth and decreasing friction angle of the rock layers, when the tunnel geometric parameters remain constant.The range of the plastic zone determined by the Hoek-Brown criterion is set as the size of the“drawer".The calculated overburden load values range from 273.78 kPa to 596.45 kPa, with deviations from the field monitoring results controlled within 10% ,which verifies the effectiveness of this method in calculating geological overburden pressure in inclined layered rock tunnels.This method provides a reference for calculating the load of geological overburden in deeply buried tunnels.
