Research on installation technology of steel-reinforced polyethylene pipes in cryogenic environments

Abstract: This paper investigates the electrofusion jointing technology of steel-reinforced polyethylene (SRPE) composite pipes during underground pipeline construction in cryogenic regions of Northern China (below-20 C ).It focuses on optimizing fusion parameters,thermal insulation,controlled cooling and crystallzation,and fiting gapadjustments under cryogenic conditions.Through theoretical analysisand experimental validation,a dynamic compensation algorithm for fusion parameters suitable for cryogenic environments and integrated construction methodologies have been proposed. These methods were applied to the Wushan 5O OOO tons/day low-grade copper ore heap leaching project in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia. The study demonstrates that this technology significantly enhances joint integrity,minimizes material wastage,expedites construction timelines, and reduces overall project costs,providing valuable insights for similar engineering endeavors.
