The Yuan Dynasty marked an important period for the development of Shanghai arts and crafts， which laid the foundation for the prosperity of Shanghai arts and crafts in Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the Yuan Dynasty， Shanghai was part of Huating County， Jiading County and Shanghai County. As a rising star， Shanghai County took advantage of its port， where economy and culture developed rapidly.
