Status of Group B Streptococcus Infection and Prenatal Prophylactic Antibiotic Susceptibility in Perinatal Pregnant Women in Baotou

Abstract： Objective In order to compile the Group B Streptococcus （GBS） screening that was done at our hospital in the later stages of pregnancyand the assciated patterns of antibiotic resistance，this study performed a retrospective analysis.It investigated the prevalence of GBS infection among perinatal pregnant women in Baotou and analyzed the antibiotic susceptibilityof GBS，providing abasis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.MethodsFrom January 2022 to September 2024，vaginal secretions and anorectal swab samples were colected from 7873 pregnant women n late pregnancy who visited our hospital.Bacterial cultures were performed using a transport medium，and GBS-positive specimens were isolated，identifed，andsbjectedtoantibioticusceptibilitytesting.ResultsAtotalof 442 cases of GBS infection were identified among pregnant women， with a local GBS infection rate of approximately 5.61% in late pregnancy. When compared to other age groups， pregnant women between the ages of31 and 35 had the highest GBS sreening positivityrate，according to age-stratified analysis， which was statisticallysignificant （P< 0.05）.GBS-positive pregnant women in theregionshowedthe highestsensitivity topenicillinandampicilin，bothat 100% ， as well as to vancomycin and linezolid， also at 100% .However， sensitivity to other drugs was relatively low： levofloxacin （28.5%） ， erythromycin （7.6%） ， and clindamycin （6.1%） . ConclusionThe GBS infection rate among pregnant women in Baotou is lower than the national average，and the age distribution of infections is distinctly different.Therefore，prenatal preventive measuresand antibiotic susceptibilityanalysis for GBS infections areof great ificance in guiding appropriate clinical treatment in the region.
