Analysis of Clinical Distribution,Drug Resistance and Epidemiology of 1 548 StrainsofPseudomonasaeruginosa ina TertiaryHospital

Abstract: Objective A theoretical basis for the clinical treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa(PA) infection and the prudent use of antibacterial drugs was established by analyzing the source and clinical distribution of PA infections at Dalian Friendship Hospital over the previous seven years,as well as the resistance of eleven commonclinical antibacterialdrugs.Methods Retrospective analysis of 1548 strains ofPAat Dalian Friendship Hospital from January 2017to June 2024,analyzed the drug susceptibilityresults using Whonet 5.6 software,and a chisquare test was performed with Spss26 software.Results Among 1 548 strains of PA,1 062 strains (68.60% ) mainly came from sputum.These strains were mainly distributed in the Intensive Care Unit(614 strains, 39.66% ) The majority of the patients were elderly males (70.56%) and over75years old (69.01%) .Levofloxacin (31.65%) and meropenem (31.42%) had the highest resistance rates,while cefepime( (14.94%) andamikacin (12.50%) had the lowest.The resistance rates of carbapenem-resistant P. aeruginosa (456 strains, 29.46% )and fluquinolone-resistant P.aeruginosa (654 strains, 42.25% )were more than twice those of the total bacterial group.Conclusion The patients infected with PA are mainly elderly males,and the infections are more common in summer; the resistance rates to meropenemand levofloxacin were the highest.For multi-drug resistant bacteria,clinical combined therapy is recommended.Itis helpfulto clarifytheepidemiologicalcharacteristicsof Pseudomonas aeruginosa in order to take effective prevention and control measures in clinical practice.
