【Abstract】WONCA Europe released an updated versionof the European Definitionof General Practice/Family Medicine in 2023，addressing global healthchalengesand the imperative to transformhealthcare systems.This revisionunderscores the importace of"One Health""Planetary Health"and "Sustainability" withinthedomainof general practice/familymedicine， signifyingaparadigmshiffromthetraditional"individual-family-community"modeltoa"globalecosystemhealth"framework. This paperaims toelucidatethe background，maincontent，significance，andimpactof the2O23revisionofthe European DefinitionofGeneralPractice/FamilyMedicine，whichprimarilyexploresthecharacteristicsofthedisciplineofgeneralpractice/ familymedicine service system，thescopeofspecialization general practicefamily medicine，thecorecompetenciesof general practitioners/familydoctors，hesentialapplicationfeatuesandtheimplementationbedrockofgeneralpracticefamilymedicine. Allof the above-mentioned aspects posssscrucial enlightenmentsand guidingvalueforthe development of general practicein China.
