Comparison of Weed Suppression Efficacy of Different Artificial Grass Cultivation Practices in Toona sinensis Orchards

Abstract:Toclarifyefects of grasscultivationon weed growth in Toona sinensis orchards,anecological weed control experiment wasconducted using natural grassas the control (CK),and Trifolium repens (T1),T. incarnatum(T2) and Vulpia myuros(T3)as test species.The studyexamined impactofdiferentartificial grass cultivation practiceson weed communitystructure,density,and freshweight in T sinensisorchards,and evaluated weed suppression efficacy of three differentartificial grass.Results showedthatall three artificial grassinhibited weed growth tovaryingdegrees.T. repens and T .incarnatum exhibited relatively high and stable weed suppression throughout both spring and summer seasons.T. incarnatum achieved the best performance,with weed fresh weight control effects of 68.92% in spring and 84.55% in summer;T. repens ranked second,with corresponding reductions of 50.06% and 74.19% .V.myuros only showed moderate weed suppresion in summer,which was weaker than the other two species,witha summerfresh weight control effect of 71.22% .In conclusion,T. repens and T. incarnatum are recommended as preferred artificial grass species for ecological weed suppression in T. sinensis orchards of Chengdu region.
