Abstract: Filtration is a prevalent treatment modality doma wastewater management.Dependg on materials properties filtration media,filtrationcan be clasified to four ma categories: micriltration,ultrafiltration,naniltration, reverse osmosis.The present study focuses on preparation a novel porous CaCO3 micriltration membrane,which is based on microbial-duced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) biomeralization process. Initially, CaCO3 crystal particles with urease activity are prepared by controllg MICP meralization process.Secondary microbial meralization is used to cement loose calcium carbonate particles,mg a contuous porous solid CaCO 3 membrane with certa mechanical strength.Filtration tests on bacterial cells,extracellular protes, polysaccharides show that MICP-driven porous CaCO3 membrane effectively removes Escherichia coli, Brachybacterium sp., activated sludge,with removal rates 99.998% , 99.983% , 99.996% ,respectively. Compared to conventional filter paper, this porous CaCO3 membrane demonstrates superior capability removg extracellular polymers (EPS). Furrmore, CaCO3 micriltration membrane prepared usg MICP process also exhibits ideal pore space,non-blockg characteristics, high permeability.
