Abstract: At present, the inversion algorithm of particle laser diffraction measurement based on equation solving has some problems, such as slow convergence speed, large consumption of computing resources and inaccurate measurement of multi-peak distribution. In this paper, a precalculated database of particle diffraction pattrns is established, which is combined with the characteristics of diffraction paterns to measure particle size inversion. According to the theory of optical difraction (or scattering),the optical diffraction patterns related to particle size and distribution are calculated by using the function limitation method of particle size distribution. In a certain particle size measurement range, the diffraction patterns corresponding to all different particle sizes and distributions are calculated,and a database is established. In this paper, the least square search method is used to invert the particle size distribution of single peak and multi-peak, and the pattern characteristic value is fully used' to narrow the search range and reduce the calculation time. A simple structure laser difraction measurement system for particle size was established, and the actual optical diffraction pattern distribution of particles was obtained by using a camera array CCD device. A series of experiments were carried out to measure 5 kinds of national standard materials of latex particles,and the error of D50 of the measured particles was all within 5% . Theoretical and experimental studies show that the method has simple principle and device structure, high measurement accuracy, and can meet the requirements of industrial production and pharmaceutical industry for particle size measurement.
