【Abstract】 Objective This paper introduces a method for detecting volatile phenols and anionic synthetic detergents in water using continuous flow chromatography,online rectification,and extraction methods to construct independent detection modules foranionicsynthetic detergents (methylene blue method)and volatile phenols (4- AAP method).MethodsThis paper is based on the SKALAR SA5Ooo Continuous Flow Injection Analyzer (from SKALAR,Netherlands),which features amodularflow path system driven bya dual-channel peristaltic pump.It is equipped with a dual-wavelength detector ( 510nm/650 nm) and an online distillation unit (volatile phenol module). Theinstrument achieves full processautomation of sample online distillation (volatile phenols),colorreaction (complexation ofLAS with methylene blue),and absorbance detection through programcontrol.ResultsCompared with traditional spectrophotometry,this method doubles theanalysis eficiency (20-30 samples/h),reducesreagent consumption by over 70% ,and minimizes waste liquid generation by at least 65 % . It demonstrates good resistance to matrix interference.Using this method to test 28 tap water samples,3 source water samples,and3 finished water samples,after online dilutionof water samples with high color and turbidity,the correlationcoefficients (r) within the linear range were all above 0.999.The detection limits were O.O01 O mg/L for LAS and 0.03mg/L for volatile phenols,respectively.The relative standard deviations (RSD)at various concentrations within the linear range ranged from 1.48% to 7.22% . The recovery rates for LAS spiked samples ranged from 90% to 109% ,and for volatile phenols,from 91% to 108% .Thelong-term stabilityofthe instrumentwas furtherverified(72h,RSD≤4.82 % ) ConclusionThe SKALAR SA5ooO continuous flow injection analyzer is easy to operate,fast, nearly pollutionfree,and has a low detection limit.It exhibits good precision and accuracy,meting laboratory quality control standards.The methodis highly automated,cost-efective,andsuitableforrapidanalysisof large-scale,lowconcentration samples in drinking water safety monitoring.
