Control Indicators for Major Weeds in Winter Wheat Fields under Corn - Wheat Dryland Rotation

Abstract:To determine theextentofdamagecausedbytheco-existence ofAegilops tauschiiand Descurainia sophia on winter wheat,andclarifythecontrol indicatorsfor major weedsin winterwheatfieldsundercorn-wheatdryland rotation,a field experiment was conducted during 2022-2023 in Zibo City,Shandong Province.By artificially planting D. sophia and A . tauschii,weeds densities were controlledat0,10,20,35,60,105,210,420,100,and320 plants/m². Efects of weeds at diferent densities on the number of productive spikes,grains per spike,and1 OO-grain weight of wheat were measured.The results indicated thatlow-densityco-existence of the two weeds had a minor impact on wheatyield.However,asthe weedsdensityincreased,wheatyielddeclinedconsiderablely.Whenthedensitiesof both A. tauschii and D :sophiawereall5 plants/ ,theyield decreased byonly 4.68% compared to the weed-free treatment.
When the densities reached 320,1OO plants/m²,the yields decreased by 57.98% .Data analysis revealed an exponential relationshipbetween weeddensityandwheat yield loss,anda power function relationship between weed fresh weight and wheat yieldloss.Using regressionanalysis,thecontrol indicators forweeds in winter wheat fields under adrylandrotationsystem was determinedtobe9-1O plants/m2.Guiding farmers totimelyimplementchemical control ofweedbasedontheseindicatorscould avoid theindiscriminateuseof herbicides,therebyreducing herbicide application rates,saving production costs,and protecting the farmlandecological environment played a positiverole.
