【AbstractDiabetes isan important risk factor for cognitive impairment. The mechanisms of the association betwendiabetesandcognitive impairment include insulin resistance, mitochondrial autophagy, inflammation, oxidative stress, etc. In recent years,a large number of studies have found thatthe phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(Akt)signaling pathway isan important targetfortheprevention and treatment of diabeticcognitivedysfunction(DCD).Monomers and compound prescriptions of traditional Chinese medicine affect mammalian target of rapamycin( mToR), glycogen synthase kinase -3(GSK-3β) , superoxide dismutase( SOD), postsynaptic density protein -95 (PSD -95),apoptosis inhibitor gene(Bcl -2), etc. by regulating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway,,thereby achievig metabolic regulation. It has multiple efects such as reducing insulin resistance, lowering inflammation and oxidative stressto prevent and treat DCD.It has the advantages of multi-target,all-round and smalladverse reactions, and is an important direction for new drug research and development.Basedon the P13K/Akt signaling pathway, this paper reviews its pathological mechanism in DCD and the research on traditional Chinese medicine intervention, with the aimof providing references for the prevention and treatment of DCD with traditional Chinese medicine and the development of clinical drugs.
