Abstract Objective:To compare the effectiveness of triclosan coated and uncoated sutures in reducing surgical site infections after adult open surgery through Meta-analysis.Methods:The literature about effectiveness of triclosan coated suture in preventing postoperative infections in adults undergoing open surgery were retrieved from databases such as CNKI,WanFang Database,VIP,CBM,MedLine,EMbase, the Cochrane Library. The retrieval time was from the inception to February 16,2022.After screening according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, the data was analyzed using RevMan 5.3.Results:A total of 5 797 patients were included in 12 articles. The incidence of surgical site infection in triclosan coated and uncoated sutures was 10.4% and 13.6%,respectively,with statistically significant differences (RR=-0.03,95%CI ―0.06-―0.01,P=0.010);three studies only involved peritonitis surgery and found that antimicrobial coated sutures had better efficacy (RR=0.37,95%CI 0.19-0.73,P=0.004).Conclusion:Current evidence shows that triclosan coated sutures have advantages in reducing the incidence of surgical site infections in general abdominal incisions.
