Abstract: To investigate the muffling performance and aerodynamic performance of a novel impedance hybrid mufler, COMSOL Multiphysics finite element analysiswas employed to simulate the internal acoustic field,flow field and noise attenuation characteristics of the muffler. The pressure loss and insertion loss of eight muflers were further analyzed, and the mufling performance was compared. The results show that the proposed impedance hybrid muffler achieves superior muffling effect under low, medium, and high frequency, with particularly outstanding performance at 0~500Hz where its insertion loss increases by 175% to 2000% compared with that of other types of mufflers
