山西省，简称“晋”，位于华北地区，因地处太行山以西而得名。山西北依长城与內蒙古自治区毗邻，西隔黄河与陕西省相望，东与河北省为邻，南与河南省接壤。其轮廓近似平行四边形，在中国版图上极具辨识度。
