Research on the optimum intercept angle between D-shaped warhead and aircraft object

Abstract:Toaddress the problemof insuficient guidance accuracyand limited damage effectivenessof traditional warheads when engaging highlymaneuverable,high-altitude,and high-speedfighteraircraft,aD-shapedwarheadwithdirectional damage caracteristics was adopted.By systematically optimizing damage parameter and energy transferpath,an eficient damage system tailored for high-speed fighter targets was constructed. A penetration model of a 120∘ D-shaped warhead against thecomposite skin of fighter aircraft was developed based onthe Autodyn simulation platform.Considering seven common conditions,thecase yieldingthe highestfragmentlethalitywas selectedtoevaluate theoptimal interceptionanglefordamaging thecockpit canopy.Theresults indicate that during dynamic detonation,fragment dispersion velocity increases witha directionaltilt.Thepenetrationefectonthecockpitcanopyis maximizedwhentherelativefragmentvelocityisperpendicular to the aircraft's velocity (interception angle of 45.96∘ ).The derived formulas for initial fragment velocity and interception angle demonstrateuniversalapplicability.Thisresearch providesatheoreticalbasisforrapidlycaleulatingtheoptimal interception angle between D-shaped warheads and fighter targets.
