Research on welding crack between austenitic stainless steel and non alloy steel

Abstract: In the production process of a type of freight car exported to Europe,cracks were found in the fillet weld between X5CrNi18 -10 austenitic stainless steel and S355J2+N non alloy structural steel during MAG welding.Byanalyzing the timeof crack formation,fracture morphology and location,itis considered that they are heat cracks.Through the welding test of welding wire chemical composition,welding process parameters and other aspects,the causes of the crack was found.The crack problem was solved bychanging the welding wire from ISO 14343-A G 23 12 LSi to ISO 14343-A G 18 8 Mn.
