Gratitude for the Source of Benefit饮水思源

“饮水思源”出自南北朝时期庾信的《徵调曲》：“饮其流者怀其源。”喝水的时候要想到水的来源，比喻人不能忘本。

During the Southern and Northern Dynasties，there was a man called Yu Xin. He was born ina wealthy and 1）aristocratic family in the LiangDynasty. He grew up and became an official ofthe Liang Dynasty.

Later， Yu Xin was sent as an 2）ambassadorto the Western Wei in Chang’ an. But severalyears later， after the demise of the Liang Dynasty，he was forced to stay in the Northern Dynastiesfor more than 20 years. Often being homesick，he wrote in one of his essays that he alwaysthought of the source of the water whenever hedrank from the river， expressing his longing forhis hometown in the Southern Dynasties.
