Add the Final Touch画龙点睛
“画龙点睛”出自唐朝张彦远《历代名画记·张僧繇》。后用以比喻写作文或讲话时,于关键处用一两警句点明要旨,使内容更为精辟有力。
Zhang Sengyao, a painter of theSouthern and Northern Dynasties, waswell known for his excellent paintingskills, especially good at drawing figurestories and religious paintings.
Legend has it that Zhang Sengyaopainted four dragons on the wall of atemple, but he did not paint pupils to theireyes. When someone asked him why hedidn’t paint pupils. He said, “if I did, thedragons would fly into the sky.” People considered his words 1)absurd andrepeatedly 2)urged him to add pupilsto the dragons’ eyes. He eventuallydid it on two of the four dragons.Suddenly, lightning and thunderstruck, and the two dragons withpupils added to their eyes flew intothe clouds. The other two remainedon the wall.
People were amazed.
