Model experimental investigation on the effects of rockburst on gently inclined structural planes under gradient stresses

Abstract:The gradient stresses in the surrounding rock caused by deep excavationand the naturally occurring slow-dipping hardstructural planesoftherockarecritical factors influencingthecharacteristicsofrockburst.Through triaxialloadingunidirectional unloading tests conducted on large-scale ( 400mm×600mm×1 000mm) )artificial rock specimens containing prefabricated hard slow-dipping structural planes using a gas-liquid composite loading rockburst simulation system, this study systematically investigated rockburst evolution mechanisms and mechanisms of damage.A multi-modal monitoring approach incorporatingdigitalimagecoelation(DIC),acousticemission(AE)detectioninfraredthermography,andhgh-sped photographywasemployed tocapturecriticalparametersincludingenergyreleased paterns,surface infraredradiation characteristics,DIC strain field evolution,and crack propagationdynamicsduring rockburst development.Theresultsof the study show that the presence of the slow-dipping structural plane has acontrolling efect on the damage pattrn of the specimen,greatlyconstrainstheboundariesand morphologyofrockburst craters,andaccelerates theoccurrenceofrockburst.It is verifiedthatthelocationofrockbursts inthe specimens is mainlyinthe area betweenthe structural planesof thespecimens. Theinfrared radiation values and DIC strain fields in this area are much higher than those in therestof the unloading surface before the damage.As the angleof the slow-dipping structural plane increases,thepeak andcumulative acoustic emission energyof the specimen increases,the proportionofshear damage to total damage produced increaces, intensityofrockburst spawned increaces.
