Hydrodynamic Characteristics of New Flexible Underwater Oil Storage Facility

Abstract:Underwater oil storage facility,asan alternative to conventional floating production storage & offloading system(FPSO),canlower the economic thresholdofoffshore oil exploitationand is promising forapplication ioffshore oilfields,especially marginal oilfields.To investigate the mechanicalcharacteristics of the new water-drop-shaped underwater flexible oil storage facility(UFOS)in marineenvironment,its hydrodynamic characteristics were analyzed.The fluid resistance,liftand wave forceofthe UFOSunder diffrentflowrates and wave conditions were numerically simulated bythe finite element method.It is found that the incoming fluid resistance and liftcoefficients ofthe UFOSare determinedto beO.307andO.177,respectively.The wave resistance,lift andtorque change periodically with the periodic movementof the wave,following a curve with the frequency and period consistent with that of the wave.There is no phase diference in the curves of wave resistance and torque, and thecurveof wave resistance is1/4 periodof phaseaheadof the curveof wave lift.The wave resistance,lift and torque increase and then decrease withthe increase of wavelength,and there are extreme values ofchange,,corresponding to the wavelength ranges of 95-105m ,95-105 m and 70-80 m,respectively. Moreover,the wave resistance,lift and torque increase with the increase of wave amplitude,and linearly correlate with the squareof wave amplitude.They are inversely proportional to the wave period and directly proportional to the wave frequency.The researchresults confirmthat the hydrodynamic characteristicsof the UFOS areclosely related to the flow rate,wave amplitude,wavelength and wave frequency.To apply it into engineering practices,the hydrodynamic characteristics should be calculated comprehensively considering the marine environmental conditions,and the maximum hydrodynamic parameters corresponding to the hydrological conditions should beselected forunderwater engineering design,aiming to ensure a sufficient safety factor.

海上边际油田储量小,常规开发方式经济性差,采用水下存储的方式替代浮式储油生产设施(FPSO)进行原油存储能可提高开发经济性[1-2]1960年Fateh油田开始应用水下钢质储油舱3],2014年英国在Solan油田安装了一座海底钢质储油舱[4],均采取传统油水置换工艺装卸油。(剩余9074字)
