Analysis of faults and discussion on operation and maintenance in the Anhui seismic station observation system

Abstract To ensure stable operation of Anhui seismic monitoring network,a comprehensive review of the operationalstatus of31 participatingstations from2O20 to 2024 was conducted.Theoperational eficiencyofthe stations was evaluated reasonablybyanalyzing stationuptime rates,faultfrequency,andcumulative downtime.Common faults werecategorized into four major types: communication systems, power supply systems,observation instruments,and otherfactors,and twelvesubcategories.Analysis indicated that29of the31evaluated stations maintainedananual average operational rate exceeding 99% through the five-year period. The vast majority of the faults were detected and resolved within 24 hours,demonstrating overall sound operation of the observation systems.Power supplyand communication system failures constituted the primaryfault types afecting seismic observation stations,accounting for 73% of allincidents.Recommendations include developing an AI-powered station operation and maintenance model and anonline fault diagnosis platform toautomate fault alerts,rapiddiagnostics,andsolution generation; strengthening duty shifts during Julyto Septemberand implementing proactive lightning and flood prevention measures;and optimizing spare equipment allocation strategies and enhancing the maintenance capabilies of grasroot personnel of provincial operation centers.
