[Abstract]Manganese(Mn),anesential trace element,plays acrucialrolein various physiological processesincluding osteogenesis,arbohydrateandlipidmetabolismantioxidantdefense,andneurotransmitersynthesisItsbiologicalefctsae characterizedbyadosedependentbiphasicregulatorypatern,which warrantsfurtherinvestigation.Withtheincreasinglevelsof environmentalpollutionpopulation-wideexposuretoMnhasrisensignificantly,particularlyafecting pregnantwomenandfetuses whoareonsideredhigh-riskgroupsduetoenhanced placentaltransportcapacityandincreasedphysiologicalrequirementsduring pregnancy.Thisreviewsummarizesrecentresearchadvanceson Mnexposureandmaternalandchildhealth(MCH)anddiscusses thecomplex associationsbetween Mnandpregnancycomplications aswellas fetalbirthoutcomes.Itaimstoprovidea comprehensive foundation and conceptual framework for future studies on the impact of Mn exposure on MCH.
