Abstract: The carrier frequency of coherent frequency-agile inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR)changes rapidly during the coherent processing interval,thus coherent frequency-agile ISAR has excellent performance on electronic counter-countermeasures and electromagnetic compatibility.In order to achieve coherent frequency-agile ISAR imaging,a range-Doppler decoupled signal model is established. There exist high sidelobes in the imaging results of matched filtering method and conventional sparse recovering methods,such as basis pursuit (BP)and focal underdetermined system solver (FOCUSS). The hyperbolic tangent function as the objective function in the recovering algorithm is utilized,so that the sparse property of the target can be adequately promoted in coherent frequency-agile ISAR imaging process.By assigning sparsity constraint on the target,the proposed method can suppress the sidelobes and has better performance than BP and FOCUSS.Results of simulation experiment are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed coherent frequency-agile ISAR sparse imaging method.
