A Study on Characteristics and Protection Countermeasures of Ancient and Famous Treesin Feicheng City Based on Field Census

Abstract Toclarify thecurrent situationof ancientand famous trees in Feicheng Cityandformulatescientific protection strategies,a method combiningon-site investigation,literature review and field research wasadopted to conductasystematicinvestigationandanalysis ofthecomposition,quantity,distribution paternand growth status of ancientand famous trees inthisarea.Theresultsshowedthatthere wereatotal of89ancientand famous trees in Feicheng Citybelonging to10families,12 generaand13 species.Among them,there were2 first-class ancientrees, 29 second-class ones and 58 third-classones.Sophora japonica and Platycladus orientalis were the dominant tree species, accounting for 52.81% and 20.23% of the total number of plants respectively. The ancient and famous trees in Feicheng Cityweredistributed inascatered manner throughout thecity.Theywererelativelyconcentrated around ruralareas,forestsand green spaces,while sparsely distributed in urban areas.Moreover,mostof the plants were in good growth condition.Basedonthe surveyresults,suggestions forthe protectionandutilization ofancient and famous treesareputforward,including improving theprotectionpoliciesand technical standards forancientandfamous trees, establishingadynamic monitoring systemandresourcedatabase,implementing diffrentiated protection measures,and promoting the integrated development of ancient and famous tree resources with tourismand landscape construction.
