Abstract：Mango production in southern and southeastern Guangxi is an important part of the Guangxi mango industry，with expanding of planting area， increasing yield and improving fruit quality and production benefits in recent years. A deep understanding of the current state of the mango industry in this region，especially its problems，will help promote its healthy development.The study investigated the development of mango industry in southern and southeastern Guangxi in recent 1O years，including industrial overview， orchard site conditions， soil texture，plantation scale， planting varieties and densities，sales period and cultivation performance，etc. The mango industry in this region has several advantages. These include a high yield per unit area; a later ripening period—typically 10 to 15 days after mangoes in the Youjiang River Valley （a major production area in Guangxi）—which helps stagger the harvest and improve economic eficiency；and healthy tree growth without the excessive use of growth regulators that cause seedless fruits，or elongation agents used to artificially boost yield. The main challenges include inadequate attention from government departments and inefective organizational support；unclear delineation of planting zones， which exposes the crops to adverse weather in unsuitable areas; low adoption rates of essential mango cultivation techniques；and the widespread practice of early harvesting，which undermines the full potential of late-maturing varieties. To address these problems，the following countermeasures are proposed： scientifically delineate suitable and unsuitable planting areas； establish a dedicated research and development team to conduct studies， demonstrations，and promotion of appropriate cultivation techniques；optimize the varietal structure by promoting mid-and late-maturing mango varieties and increasing their planting proportion；advocate for the rational and controlled use of growth regulators and fruit expansion agents to reduce the occurrence of seedless fruits； demonstrate and promote labor-saving cultivation methods；and enhance technical training programs to improve farmers' production skills.
