Polarization-independent electromagnetically induced transparency-like effects in metasurface
Abstract: To address the issue that the traditional electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT)-like structure is highly dependent on the polarization state incident light, a polarization-independent EITlike metasurface structure was designed using electromagnetic field simulation stware coupled mode theory, achieving stable transmission spectral responses arbitrary polarization directions. The metasurface was composed four metalic triangular rings four metallic strips, arranged on a dielectric substrate with fourfold rotational symmetry. The polarization-independent EIT-like phenomenon was caused by the destructive interference two bright resonances from the metalic triangular rings metallic strips. Numerical simulation results show that the metasurface exhibits an EIT-like window around 10.55GHz with a slow-wave group delay time O.46 ns. By adjusting the geometric parameters the metasurface, the EIT-like frequency corresponding slow-wave group delay can be flexibly tuned. This design lays a solid foundation the practical applications EIT-like phenomena in optical sensing, slow-light devices, optical communication systems across multiple scenarios. Additionally, it can also be extended to other frequency bs, holding potential polarization-independent filtering, sensing, nonlinear effect applications.
