Inthe3rd centuryAD，the suona traveled to Chinaalong the Silk Road from Persiaand the Arabian region. The suona was known as“Surna”in ancient times. By the Ming and Qing dynasties，it had become essential in Chinese weddings and funerals-joyful melodies like Hundredsof BirdsWelcoming thePhoenixforcelebrations，andmournful tunes like Crying Over the Great Wallfor condolences. It was called “the trumpet blowing through the sky".
