Lacquer fans are special fans from China. Made with bamboo or wood frames， these fans are coated with lacquer， a special material made from tree sap. This coating makes the fans strong， shiny， and resistant to water and damage. Traditionally， they are painted with patterns of different themes， such as landscapes， flowers and birds， and figures to make them more beautiful.

Despite the development of new methods for making fans， skilled artisans still use traditional techniques to create lacquer fans， keeping this ancient craft alive.
