Once upon a time，there lived an old fisherman with a white beard. He fished for a living all his life. One dark and stormy night， he went out to sea but couldn't catch a single fish. Just as he was about to head home， he noticed a flickering flame in the river. He cast his net and pulled it up， only to find a delicate white jade fishbowl. He thought to himself， “What use is this thing to me？"

Disappointed， the old fisherman returned home and casually placed the fishbowl on the table. At the bottom of the bowl were carved two beautiful little goldfish， and a fishing boy sat atop a lotus flower—truly lovely. Yet the old fisherman was worried： with no fish to catch， how would he survive？ No matter how beautiful the fishbowl was， it couldn't feed him.
