Abstract:To improve the milling efficiency of three-dimensionalfree-formsurfaces,a method for stability-region partitioning and tool-path direction optimization is proposed. First,a weighted-probability K -means clustering(WPK-means)algorithm is designed.By optimizing the initial cluster centers through a weighted distance and a probability function,stable surface partitioning is achieved. Then,an optimal curve-fiting strategy is adopted to determine the tool-path directionvia the longest intersection curve,thereby reducing the number of tool entry and exit operations and improving the material removal rate.Finally,the effectiveness of the method is verified through simulation experiments and compared with other improved K -means clustering algorithms. The results show that the proposed method delivers superior accuracy.
