AbstractEnhancingurbanspaces fromahuman-centered prspectiveis acriticalfocus withinurbanrenewalinitiatives, withgrowing scrutiny on thenegative impacts thatpoorlydesignedurban environments exertoncitizens'mentalhealth.Asoneof the most ubquitous public spaces, living streets are increasingly studied through the lens of emotion-drivenoptimization. However, curentresearchonlivingstretrenewal predominantly emphasizes functional improvements, lackingquantitative explorationof emotionaldimensions. This studyproposesa "Design-Demand-Emotion" Tripartite Model to elucidate theimpactmechanisms ofstreet design features oncitizens'emotional states, utilizing correlation analysisand Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).Critical street design elements influencing both the promotion of positive emotions and the aleviationofnegativeemotionsarequantitativelyidentifed, andtheirspecificimpactpathwaysarestablishd.Anotionoriented spatial design toolkitand correspondingrenewal paradigms areconstructed, tailored for diverse types of living streets (service-oriented,creational,andtransit-riented).Teresearchontributesaomprehensiveemotionieted theoretical framework for street designandadvances the "DemandFulfllment Mediation Efect" explanatorymodel. These contributions facilitateaparadigm shift instreetrenewal practices—from priorizingphysicalspatial optimization towards enhancingresidents'emotional experiences—providing innovative methodsand practicaltools forrefiedurbanregeneration.
