Sedimentary Faciesand Sand Body Characteristicsof the Zhiluo Formation in the Wujiaoxi Area, Ordos Basin

Abstract: [Purposes]The Zhiluo Formation isan important potential oil-rich interval inthe Jurassicreservoir. To delineate the favorable accumulation area of the Zhiluo Formation sandstone reservoir in the Wujiaoxi area of the Ordos Basin,itis essentialtoclarify its sedimentary facies and sand body characteristics,thereby providing a reference for planning exploration and deployment of the Zhiluo Formation reservoir in the study area.[Methods] Based on logging geology and sedimentary petrology,this study utilized well logging, mud logging,and oil testing data to analyze the sedimentary faciesand sand body characteristics of the sandstone oil reservoir in the Zhiluo Formation of the Wujiaoxi area,and discussed their controlling effects on the reservoir.[Findings] The results indicate that the Zhiluo Formation in the Wujiaoxi area received NW-source sediments.The upper Zhi-1and Zhi-2 members are dominated by meandering river deposits,while the lower Zhi-3and Zhi-4 members are characterized by braided river deposits.From the Zhi-4 to Zhi-1 depositional stages,the sand bodies gradually became finer and smallerin scale.[Conclusions] The sandstone oil in the Zhiluo Formation of the Wujiaoxi area is jointly controlled by sedimentation,structure,and sand body distribution.The coupling of themain sand belt with microstructural highs constitutes the favorable accumulation area for the Zhiluo Formation sandstonereservoir.
