Study on the Sinking Characteristics of Static Pressure Double Piles in Sandy Soil

Abstract: [Purposes] Static pressure piling is the most common construction method for pile foundations,but research on its pile-sinking mechanism is relatively limited,making it necessary to study the characteristics of the pile-sinking process.[Methods] Through large-scale model tests,this paper analyzes the effects of different pile spacings,pile-sinking methods,and types of pilecaps on the sinking characteristics of static pressure double piles in sandy soil.[Findings] The test results show that the pile-pressing force of the static pressure double-pile system increases nonlinearly with the depth of pile sinking,increases with the number of piles sunk,and initially increases and then decreasesas the pile spacing increases.The pile end resistance basically reaches its maximum value at a sinking depth of 25D ,and the ratio of the final end resistance to the final sinking pressure can beas high as 72% .However,the pile-pressing force and pile tip resistance are not related to the type of pilecap.[Conclusions] The research findings reveal the evolution of the sinking characteristics of static pressure double piles and provide areference for the design and construction of static pressure pile foundations.
