Preparation and pressure sensor properties of Ag/Cu NWs/cotton fabric flexible composites

Abstract In order to improve the sensing properties of the pressure sensors,two flexible pressure sensors with high sensitivity and fast response/recovery time were prepared via combining impregnation-drying synthesis method with displacement reaction. Firstly,the Cu NWs were synthesized via the hydrothermal reduction method,and Cu NWs were then loaded on the surface of cotton fibers by impregnation experiments to obtain pressure flexible sensors of Cu NWs/cotton fabric composites. The pressure flexible sensors of the Ag/Cu NWs/coton fabrics composites were prepared based on the above sensors;due to the good conductivity of silver,the Ag particles were reduced and loaded on the surface of CuNWs via the displacement reaction. A series of structural characterization and flexible pressure sensing performance tests were performed on the two composites. The results show that the CuNWs/ cotton fabric pressure sensor exhibits a sensitivity of 1.76kPa-1 and that the introduction of silver nanoparticles reduces the resistance of the Ag/CuNWs/ cotton fabric composite material,and improves their sensing performance. Specifically the sensitivity reaches the highest 2.48kPa-1 ,the sensing range is 0.26~1.05kPa , and the response/recovery time is 300ms and 200ms , respectively. The performance of the sensor is optimized,which can be used as an excellnt flexible pressure sensor. This study provides an effective reference for improving the performance of flexible pressure sensors.
