Digital economy empowers green high-quality development： the chain mediation effect of green technology innovation and energy consumption structure

Abstract： Against the backdrop of the coordinated advancement of the“Double Carbon” goals and the Digital China Strategy，how the digital economy empowers green high-quality development has emerged as a key research topic.This study selects panel data from 390 provinces in China covering the period 2011-2023 to empirically examine the impact of the digital economyon green high-quality development.The findings reveal that： the digital economy significantly promotes green high-quality development， demonstrating a pronounced positive correlation;green technological innovation and energy consumption structure actas mediating variables in the relationship between the digital economy and green high-quality development.Regional heterogeneity analysis shows that the digital economy exerts a more substantial impact on green high-quality development in eastern regions compared to central regions;its empowering effect is also more pronounced in low-carbon pilot areas than in non-pilot areas.The research conclusions provide theoretical references and practical insights for enhancing the role of the digital economy in promoting green high-quality development.
