Optimization Design and Material Selection of Engine Valve System in Automotive Application

【Abstract】With the development of automotive engines in the direction of high thermal eficiency and low emissions,thethermo-mechanicalloadsbornebythevalvesystemaregetingbiggerandbigger,andthetraditionaldesign of the valve system canno longer satisfy the requirements of modern working conditions on abrasion resistance and creep resistance.This paperfocuses onthefailure of valve system in extreme environment,analyzes its failure mechanism,and researches from two aspects of structural designand material selection.The problems of valve ablation,wear and fracture are solved through the analysis of valve body,spring and seat structure optimization pathsand diferent advanced material matching strategies for intakeand exhaust valves.Thispaper aims to give theoretical supportandengineringoperation lead tothe creation of highly reliableandlong-life engine gas distribution mechanism throughthe joint researchof structural innovation and material modification.
