Abstract : CO 2 flooding is an important carbon utilization method in carbon capture,utilization,and storage(CCUS) technology combinations. It can significantly enhance oil recovery and make large-scale CO 2 storage possible. However,the reservoirs are generally heterogeneous,and the CO 2 has the characteristics of low viscosity and density. Under the action of flow resistance difference and gravity differentiation,the injected CO2 is easily able to flow along the dominating channel to the production well,reducing the oil displacement efficiency and CO 2 storage volume.It is a significant way to increase the effectiveness of CO 2 displacementandthepotentialforundergroundstoragebyimprovingreservoir heterogeneity,allviating thecontradiction between gas phase and liquid phase,preventing CO channeling,and realizing the expansion of swept volume.At present,the methods that have been applied to control CO2 channeling include water-CO alternating injection and chemical plugging agent. Meanwile,thereareseveralpotential technologies thatremaininthelaboratoryresearchstage.Thispaperanalyzes theresearch progress in mainstream CO2 channeling control methods. The core technical challenges identified include the need for enhanced eficiencyinwatealternatinggasiectonforhanelingcontrol,asellasissuselatedtoteinsuiientstabilitdshot effective duration of chemical plugging agents.Based on this analysis,the potential development direction of CO2 channeling controltechnologyinhefutureispreliminarilydiscussed,includingthedevelopmentofhigh-performanceplugingagents,the optimization of combined channeling control processes,and exploration of new technical approaches.
